Amount and nature of the funds: Bilateral channel – 30,987,413.95 [grant]

 

Type of intervention: Financial assistance

 

Objective: Support to the balance of payments; financial support to medium and big Egyptian Enterprises, creation of new job opportunities

 

Description of the project:

Providing essential Italian-made goods and connected services, including spare parts and row material. It is primarily, but not exclusively, targeting the sectors of agriculture, irrigation, energy, industry, health care, and environment.  

 

The funds are provided by the public sector and the Egyptian private sector. Of the total of the funds available, 30% at least must be dedicated to the private Enterprises. The acquisition of goods by the private sector, in its turn, generates a counterpart fund to be utilized for projects with social goals in accordance with the guidelines of the Italian Cooperation.

A new program of Commodity Aid of 20,000,000 Euro is in the phase of negotiations.
